our mandate

To enhance business growth and economic development in Dawson City and the surrounding areas.

our History

The Dawson City Chamber of Commerce was first established in 1899 in an effort to increase business development in the region. Initially formed to support local businesses during the Klondike Gold Rush, the Chamber has evolved to become a vital advocate for the community's commercial interests. Over the decades, it has spearheaded various initiatives to promote tourism, support local enterprises, and foster a collaborative business environment.

The Dawson City Chamber of Commerce was formally incorporated in 1992, marking a significant milestone in its history and enhancing its ability to support local businesses. This change allowed the Chamber to engage in more substantial initiatives, secure funding, and offer enhanced services and resources to local businesses. For the business community, incorporation meant improved representation, increased networking opportunities, and access to programs and initiatives designed to foster economic growth and stability in Dawson City.

Today, the Dawson City Chamber of Commerce continues to adapt and address the needs of the community it serves. While it still leads its signature event, The Dawson City International Gold Show, the Chamber also actively responds to the unique challenges facing businesses in the subarctic. By promoting sustainable practices and incorporating Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in values, the Chamber ensures that the local economy grows in a way that respects the land and integrates the region's rich heritage. This reflection and responsiveness have solidified the Chamber's role as a vital support system for Dawson City's community.
